The province of Ontario in Canada has to be among the must-visit places for nature enthusiasts. When it comes to nature tourism, it is certainly a destination that many travelers would want to explore. It is home to the globally renowned Niagara Falls. In addition to this, the province is home to four of the Great Lakes. Ontario also has an abundance of wildlife and untouched forests.

Shopaholics can also have a wonderful time in this part of the world. Besides all the other items, they can shop for the locally-manufactured cheese and maple syrup. You’ll also be able to indulge in a variety of cultural activities. While in Ontario, there are certain things that you must not forget to explore. Among them are the beautiful lakes of the province.

1. Lake Superior

For most of the residents of Ontario, Lake Superior is a place for relaxation, fun, and adventure. It won’t be wrong to call it the ‘granddaddy of all the Great Lakes’. During the summer months, the lake is calm and the nature surrounding it is at its best. The rugged shoreline along this lake is quite charming and has been an inspiration for many artists. You’ll find smooth pink rocks in some areas that descend into the clear waters.

Along the shoreline of Lake Superior, you’ll also come across some of the finest beaches in the province. The beaches at Batchawana Bay and Pancake Bay are the most gorgeous ones. They’ll surely remind you of the beaches of the Caribbean islands. The waters touching these beaches are quite warm in the shallows. However, if you move a bit farther, you’ll get to experience the cooler waters.

2. Lake Huron

Lake Huron shares its western portion with the United States. This part of the lake has limestone shorelines and long beaches. The waters are shallow and warm with most of the coast having extensive developments. You can find some wonderful places for camping along this stretch.

One of them is Pinery Provincial Park. If you’re visiting during summer, you’ll have a great time in the beach town of Grand Bend. The eastern portion of Lake Huron is called Georgian Bay and lies entirely in Ontario. Other than Bruce Peninsula, it is mostly rugged with granite shorelines.

Killarney Provincial Park is a beautiful place where you can truly enjoy the offerings of Georgian Bay. It gives you ample opportunities for camping and hiking. The water is deep and cold in Georgian Bay. The fascinating beach at Wasaga is one of Georgian Bay’s highlights. It is the world’s longest freshwater beach.

3. Lake Ontario

This lake spans 300 kilometers from the city of Hamilton in the west. For those residing in Toronto, Lake Ontario would be at their doorstep. This lake travels towards the east and drains out to the St. Lawrence river. This cold and clear lake gives you the chance to relax on one of the beaches along its shore. Among the most popular beaches are Woodbine Beach and the ones on Toronto Islands.

Jack Darling Park in Mississauga is yet another place along the shoreline of Lake Ontario where you can unwind. The sailing events that take place on the lake are quite spectacular. As there are no obstacles that you might run into, people enjoy sailing on the lake a lot.

Known for its majestic architecture, Mississauga is among the largest and fastest-growing cities in Canada. The modern history of this city dates back to the 19th century, when the settlers arrived in the rich farmlands. These farmlands were located along the Credit River. Gradually, the towns of Streetsville, Dixie, Malton, Clarkson, Meadowvale, Cooksville, Erindale, and Port Credit witnessed significant developments.

These towns were joined to form Mississauga city between 1968 and 1974. Some of the architectural delights in the city include the Living Arts Center and many theaters for visual arts. Performances are held in these theaters throughout the year. There are many other fabulous attractions that you can explore during your time spent in Mississauga. Here, we’ve presented the ones that you must not miss:

1. Celebration Square

Celebration Square is located at City Hall, and is the most popular spots for urban gathering. If you wish to enjoy some outdoor performances, this is an ideal place to go. There’s a large stage at the southern end where regular performances are held.

If you’re not able to see the performer owing to the crowds, don’t be disappointed. On either side of the stage, two large screens have been mounted at a considerable height. The performance is broadcast live on these screens and you’ll certainly be able to watch them.

On one side of the Celebration Square, you’ll come across several food trucks. They sell a variety of delicious treats, such as burgers, fries, and ethnic foods. During summer, you can buy some fresh produce from the local farmers at the Lion’s Farmers’ Market.

2. Streetsville

When you’re in Streetsville, you’ll see old brick buildings along the main street as well as the streets nearby. These buildings have been restored brilliantly. In recent times, they house more than 300 shops, restaurants and other establishments. The fascinating town of Streetsville is located in the northern echelons of Mississauga.

Just like Port Credit, it was once an independent city. Over a period of time, Mississauga took over most of its parts. However, it still retains its charm of a small town. Visit Streetsville on a Saturday morning during summer. This is when the Summer Market opens up with the local food and crafts.

3. Kariya Park

This park has the name of Mississauga’s Japanese sister city. It is among the most serene parks in the city of Mississauga. Kariya park features gardens that have curving pathways around water. They are spanned by arched bridges made of wood. This would be your ideal spot to escape the hustle-bustle of the city. While exploring Kariya Park, you’ll also come across a wide range of flowering trees and shrubs.

You can see these shrubs and trees on the rolling hills and around the ponds. During the spring season, this garden transforms into a grand show of pink cherry blossoms. You’ll find a perfect atmosphere to relax when you visit the Zen Garden nearby.

4. Benares Historic House

This old residence from the mid-19th century now shines with its original glory owing to the restoration efforts. Benares Historic House somehow managed to survive the onslaught of development in Mississauga’s Clarkson neighborhood. It has now become an elegant repository in the city for historical artifacts.

You’ll also come across a visitor center in this historical house. It gives you some interesting insights into the lives of the Harris family, its former owners.

When you’re in Mississauga, you’ll be able to enjoy the company of beautiful natural surroundings. Some of the pleasant sights you’ll get to witness in this city are of a beautiful waterfront and the Credit River. Mississauga is among the most culturally diverse and globally connected cities of Canada. People living here have come from different parts of the world.

These diversities have helped in creating a unique, open, and vibrant culture in the city. Here, people celebrate their thriving arts scene and the local heritage. 2. Have a wonderful shopping experience at Square One Mall

Square One Mall has witnessed significant growth over the decades. Today, it is the top shopping destination in Mississauga. Among them are Hudson’s Bay, Apple Store, and Simons.

In the past few years, Square One had to go through some renovations to provide better shopping experiences. Wider walkways, high ceilings with skylights, and improved parking were some of the improvements. You’ll also find a dining area at the mall called Food District.

3. Visit Jack Darling Memorial Park for a picnic

Located on Lake Ontario, Jack Darling Memorial Park has something for every visitor. It comes near the top in the list of more than 500 parks of Mississauga. The park is home to one of the best beaches in the city. It also has a splash pad, tennis courts, playgrounds, and sites for group picnics.

If you’re traveling with your family, Jack Darling Memorial Park is certainly a must-visit. It is also popular with dog owners, as it has a massive dog run. This park is an ideal place for relaxation, as it has sandy areas, wide-open spaces, and shrubs.
